WOOLDRIGE PARK
RIVER OAKS, TX The City of River Oaks is largely a bedroom community located on the northwest side of Fort Worth adjacent to NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base with a population of just under 7,000 residents and five parks. At the onset of the project, Wooldridge Park was an undeveloped parcel donated to the City for use as a park. The site for Wooldridge Park is 45 feet of elevation change across 2.5 acres with no vegetation and a sub-grade of boulders and rip-able limestone. A contractor had poured a slab as a remedial commitment to the City on the only flat portion of the lower end of the property in an effort to initiate a skate park, the first priority for the park. It was the desire of the stakeholders for Wooldridge Park to become their marquee park with uses that catered to the entire community. The programmed elements for Wooldridge are: ● Skate Park ● BMX riding track ● Splash Pad ● Play structures 2-5, 5-12 ● Trail / ADA Accessibility
● Seating areas and site furnishings
● Adjacent parking ● Picnic park plaza with shade Cornerstone Design Group was awarded the 2011 Texas Recreation and Parks Society, Regions 2 & 3 award for Park Design Excellence for their work on this project.
